Using Akeeba was unsuccessful....
If installing the Akeeba .jpa backup failed then no pint manually moving files and importing database sql. You need to find out what is wrong with your localhost setup so installing the Akeeba .jpa backup works.
Finally, installation through kickstart.php worked but when placed the URL of the local site, it says this site can't be reached.
